Job Description
Opportunities have arisen for recent graduates in Ecology/Environmental Sciences to work on a variety of construction & development
projects at the survey, design & construction stages. Permanent & Training contracts are available, and successful applicants
will be assigned to a permanent or training contract dependent on experience. It is envisioned that those engaged on training
contracts will be taken on permanently upon successful completion of a 6 month training & probationary period.
Duties
Ecological surveying (design, implementation and supervision of ecological survey protocols) in relation to a range of Species/
Habitats. Desktop surveys and scoping to determine surveys required.
Contributions to Environmental Impact Assessments/Environmental Statements, Writing reports and proposals
Providing high quality advice to clients & contributing towards and assisting the development of the Company's core business
activities
Identification and handling of Protected Species (subject to license)
Successful Applicants will report directly to the Principal Consultant
Requirements:
A good honours degree in biology, ecology, environmental science or a related specialism. Qualification to MSc or PhD level
is an advantage but is not necessary. Knowledge of ecological legislation, guidance and current best practice is secondary
to field surveying ability & report writing ability.
Clients should be eligible for Associate membership of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management
Full UK, ROI or EU Driving Licence.
Practical knowledge and some experience of specialist surveys of one or more groups of fauna or flora. Knowledge of Irish
protected mammals, birds or floral communities would be a distinct advantage.
Training & assistance will be provided in:
Undertaking ecological field surveys and giving ecological consultancy advice to clients and adding value to projects. Negotiation
with statutory and non-statutory bodies, and dealing directly with clients in delivering ecological benefits to projects
Obtaining a protected species licence & appropriate professional membership.
Implementing, designing or delivering mitigation, ecological enhancement or similar for clients.
